NEW YORK RANGERS
When Conn Smythe, the Rangers’ first general manager, went looking for players for a new NHL team in 1926, he couldn’t have imagined he was laying the foundation for one of hockey's greatest traditions. Eighty years later, the “Broadway Blueshirts” are still going strong, with entire generations having grown up watching them. Close to 900 players have taken the ice in Madison Square Garden wearing the Rangers uniform, and many of the names have become immortal in New York sports history – Rod Gilbert and Mike Richter, just to name a few. Though they never took the ice together, Rod and Mike represent over 30 years of Rangers history, each sharing a special bond with their fans and the city that endures to this day. We are fortunate to be working with two of New York’s greatest players to bring you the NHL Alumni Signature Wine Series.
